What is a playgroup with a purpose?

Jocelyn and I have been throwing this playgroup idea around for awhile and we finally decided to take the plunge. Our friend Stacie started one in St. Louis...her dream is to see these groups all over. We are excited to help her with this!!

We believe that we can make a difference in the world. We focus on children's charities and causes and hope to instill a heart for giving in our own children.

So what do we want to do with this playgroup with a purpose?
Our goal is to have moms, dads and kids getting together each month for a playgroup, and to that group they will bring donations for whatever charity/cause we are collecting for that month.
We know we aren't going to be making a HUGE difference, but we believe that small steps lead to bigger things.

The group will have a few basic rules. These include keeping our charities non religious and non-political so no one feels uncomfortable due to different beliefs or faiths. The charity must benefit children. We plan to choose a local charity one month and then an international one the next...so on and so forth.

We'd love to see friends with children of all ages join in.

So our first playgroup will be...
Saturday, March 7th
3:00 pm
At Jocelyn's house
(email her for the address and directions)

According to their website, they are in need of the following items:
Cash Donations
Receiving Blankets
Diapers (Especially Newborn & Large)
Onsies (Newborn & Small)
T-Shirts (Newborn & Small)
Infant Gowns (Newborn & Small)

Great idea! We'll come if we don't get invited to the Temple's annual gala. They're $100 tickets so we can only go if the organizers let us trade off set-up for tix. :) I have a bunch of baby supplies I can donate either way.

This is such a great idea! I'm jealous of all you guys living so close together. I'll be there in spirit.
